Ava Gomes (Fortes)

Of Saugus, formerly of Revere, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 10, 2020 after a long illness. Devoted and loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her three children: Arleen Cascio and her husband John, John Fortes and his wife Rosey and Anthony Fortes and his wife Jill. Proud grandmother to six grandchilderen: John A. Fortes, Lea Fortes, Vanessa Fortes, Anthony Fortes, Jr., Angelo Fortes and Nicolas Fowler. Also, survived by her former daughter-in-law Nancy Fortes and three sisters and three brothers.

Always holding two full-time jobs, Ava worked as a CNA at Don Orione Home in East Boston for almost 30 years while also working for Logan Airport Hilton in Boston. Although hardworking, she devoted her life to her family. Volunteering was important to her in her retired years. It also allowed her to meet and enjoy breakfast with Governor Deval Patrick and the King of Sweden. She will be greatly missed by her family.

A Private Funeral Service will be held for family on Wednesday, July 15 at Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
