David J. Coveney of Malden, formally of Brighton, passed away on April 4, 2020 at the age of 78 due to complications from COVID-19. David was the beloved husband of Helene Coveney for over 50 years and the loving father of Jeff Coveney and his wife Rachel from Natick. David was the proud grandfather to three grandchildren whom he cherished: Maxwell, Megan and Katelyn. He was the loving son of the late John and Gertrude Coveney of Brighton and the loving brother of the late John Coveney. David will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
David loved taking long rides with his wife, especially enjoying the beautiful New England ocean coast. When he wasn’t taking rides, he provided unconditional love supporting his friends and family in whatever endeavor they were involved in. You could always find David at any of his son’s baseball games or grandchildren’s sporting activities. Whether you met David once or were a long-time friend, he was always willing to lend an ear and offer advice with his unique sense of humor. David had many friends working as a cameraman from his days at WRKO, WSBK and WGBH. As a hobby, David loved to write. One of his lifelong goals was to publish a book and he reached that milestone with the release of Cypress Court in 2014.
In light of the rapidly developing complications of social gathering associated with COVID-19, the family will hold a celebration of life at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Heal with a Meal charity that is supporting medical professionals with meals during the COVID-19 crisis (see below).
