Domenico (Dom) DiRico, formerly of Everett, MA and a longtime resident of North Reading, MA for 46 years, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, at the age of 80 following a brief illness.
Domenico was the son of the late Nicolo and Giustina DiRico and predeceased by his in-laws, Pasquale and Celeste D’Angelo. He was born in Orsogna, Italy, and immigrated to the United States at the age of 13. With determination and a love for learning, he graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Throughout his distinguished career, he worked at the MIT Labs, Honeywell, the MBTA, Stone and Webster and as an independent consultant where he made lasting contributions as an electrical engineer.
Domenico was married to his beloved wife, Maria (D’Angelo), for 56 years. When he met her 60 years ago, he declared, “It was love at first sight!” —a love that endured and inspired everyone around them.
After early retirement at age 50, Domenico embraced life with enthusiasm and purpose. He made time for the things he loved most: caring for his garden, dancing with Maria, reading the Italian newspaper, solving crossword puzzles, and cheering for his beloved Juventus soccer team and the Northeastern Huskies. He coached youth soccer with joy and dedication, passing on his love of the game. Of greatest importance to him was spending time with his family and faithfully attending all of his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.
Domenico was immensely proud of his Italian heritage and remained deeply connected to his roots throughout his life. He served as President of the Orsogna Plaza Men’s Club for 15 years and later was honored as President Emeritus of the Sons of Orsogna Men’s Club.
Known for his vibrant personality and generous heart, Domenico was the life of every gathering. He treasured his friendships—playing cards on Friday nights and meeting friends weekly at the coffee shop.
Family was at the center of Domenico’s life. His home was filled with warmth, and family gatherings were lively celebrations filled with stories, laughter, delicious food, and plenty of wine—memories that will be treasured by all who shared in them.
Domenico was the proud father of daughter Tina Borek and her husband Robert from North Andover and son Nicholas DiRico from North Andover. He is survived by his dear sister Marilyn DiRico Staff. He was also a loving and devoted grandfather to Isabella Borek, Mia Borek, Dominick DiRico and Andrew DiRico, and cherished his niece, Giuliana Staff.
