Elizabeth Schmitt Obituary

Elizabeth M. “Betty” Schmitt, age 87, passed away on May 5. Born on October 30, 1933 in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Edward T. and Sarah M. (O’Donnell) Schmitt. She attended Our Lady of Grace and Immaculate Conception High School in Revere. Ms. Schmitt received her B.S. from Framingham State College in 1955.  Betty worked as a Dietician at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cleveland and Hartford Hospital in Connecticut. Later she earned a Master’s Degree in Nutrition from the University of Illinois in 1966.  She worked as a Registered Dietician throughout her life, and was employed by the WIC Program and Cambridge Health Alliance.  Ms. Schmitt enjoyed her retirement in Everett, and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Grace while maintaining life-long support for Boston sports teams, most especially her Red Sox. She was predeceased by her brother Edward T. Schmitt, Jr.  Betty is survived by her nieces Anne Marie Schmitt and Eileen T. Perry and leaves many close friends. She will be dearly missed by all. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Grace Parish on Friday, May 14 at 10:00 am. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Elizabeth Schmitt Scholarship Fund, payable to “The Independent Association of Framingham State Alumni” (IAFSA), 42 Adams Road, Framingham, MA 01702.
