Joan Rocco Obituary

Joan Barbara Rocco born August 2, 1935  of Lynnfield and Highland Beach Florida, formerly of Revere, daughter of the late Daniel & Laura Musto passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on 10/21/2024 after a lengthy and courageous battle with Dementia. Joan was a wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, and friend to many. Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, John J Rocco, formerly of Everett, presently Lynnfield and Highland Beach Florida. She is also survived by her brother Michael Musto and his wife Denise of Salem. She rejoins her best friend and sister-in-law Elena Gates and her brother-in-law George in Heaven. Joan leaves behind her three beloved sons and daughters-in-law who meant the world to her, John and his former wife Elaine, David and his former wife Susan and longtime girlfriend Sandy, and Christopher and his wife Karen.  She is also survived by her  cherished grandchildren, Jade and her husband Peter, Jacey, Jayden, Ashley and her husband Mohamed, Brandon and his fiancé Jenny, Tyler, and Nicholas, as well as several loving nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews.

Joan was a strong and loving woman who lived for her family and extended family and friends. Nothing made her happier than spending time caring, entertaining, and being around her family and friends that she adored sharing the benefits of her life. She loved to prepare wonderful dinners for her family, enjoyed eating out and dancing with friends, and relaxed by boating, vacationing and traveling around the world with her husband John. Many winters were spent in her Florida home with children, grandchildren, and friends. Joan attended Salem State College where she earned her degree in Education and became a school teacher within the Revere Public School system before retiring to dedicate her time to raising her three sons and supporting her husband’s business. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett for many years.

Joan will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends. Funeral Service from the Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home 331 Main St. Everett Monday October 28th at  8:45am. Funeral Mass in the St. Anthony Church Revere at 10:00am. Interment in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield. Visiting hours will be Sunday, October 27th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, Valet Parking provided. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory may be made to a charity she held close to her heart, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude’s place Memphis, TN 38105.
