Joanne Coakley, 78, of Malden passed away early morning on Thursday July 6, 2023 at the Sunrise Assisted Living Facility in Lynnfield MA. Born May 3, 1945 in Malden MA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Ferretti and Emily (Bagarella) Ferretti.
Joanne worked for the New England Telephone Company during her early years, which is where she met her husband, John “Jack” Coakley. Joanne was a devoted wife who dedicated her life to raising her three children. She was a well-known member of the Malden community who spent many years volunteering for the 4th of July celebrations at the Linden Park and supporting her husband Jack during his time as a councilman for Ward 8. She was a familiar face that could always be counted on to work the polls during the election cycle and provide a friendly greeting while working part time at Robinson’s news agency and D&D produce. Joanne enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and looked forward to watching her two favorite sports teams: the Boston Red Sox, and the New England Patriots.
Joanne is survived by her three children; Shawn and Lori Coakley of Stafford, VA, Michelle and Nicholas Freni of Lynnfield, MA, Scott and Michele Coakley of Danvers, MA; six grandchildren, Kerry Coakley, Mackenzie Coakley, Jenna Freni, Ava Freni, Skylar Coakley, and Addison Coakley; many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and lifelong friend Angie Grout. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jack and her parents Joseph and Emily.
The wake will be held at Salvatore Rocco Funeral Home, 331 Main St, Everett on Friday July 14 4-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Saturday July 15th in St Mary Of The Assumption Parish 670 Washington Ave, Revere. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery Everett. Followed by a reception at the Moose Lodge in Malden.
