John “Jackie” Joseph Rocco Jr. ,born June 9, 1933 of Lynnfield, MA and Highland Beach Florida, formerly of Everett, son of the late John and Helen Rocco, passed away suddenly and peacefully in his sleep on March 22, 2025. John was recently preceded in death by the love of his life for 66 years of marriage, Joan (Musto) Rocco, formerly of Revere. John was also preceded in death by his sister Elena Gates and her husband George. John is survived by his brother-in-law Michael Musto and his wife Denise. John leaves behind his three beloved sons and daughters-in-law who meant the world to him, John and his former wife Elaine, David and his former wife Susan and long-time girlfriend Sandy, and Christopher and his wife Karen. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Jade and her husband Peter (and great grandchildren), Jacey and her fiancé Alec, Jayden, Ashley and her husband Mohamed, Brandon and his fiancé Jenny, Tyler, and Nicholas as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
John will be remembered for the way he lived his life and the profound impact he had, personally and professionally, on those who had the pleasure of knowing him or being mentored by him. John graduated from Everett High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts from Boston University in 1954 where he was a member of the Air Force ROTC. John served in the United States Air Force as a Captain during the Korean War and as a reservist in the Air National Guard at Hanscom Air Force Base. John continued his education and earned his Associate of Applied Science and Master of Science in Financial Services from the American College. He dedicated 69 years of his life up until his last day working for New York Life Insurance Company as a Financial Services Agent & Advisor and founded the Rocco Insurance & Financial Group helping many clients and their families secure their future. Throughout his successful career, he attained numerous certifications and awards as a top sales professional. John earned the designations of a Life and Qualifying Member of the Million Dollar Round Table and Charted Life Underwriter. John continually served from the top of his profession through his involvement with such groups as NAIFA, the Boston Life Underwriters, the Association of Life Underwriters, and the 21st Century Endowment program at the American College. John was a trustee emeritus for the American College Foundation Board, and also served on the board of directors for several community and business groups in the Boston area. John loved his work, but he loved helping people more.
When John wasn’t working he could be found enjoying family, friends, and clients on his beloved boat, the “Whole Life” or at his oceanfront condo at Highland Beach FL. Besides his family and career, boating and the ocean were his lifelong passion. Easy to strike up conversations, you’d often hear about what next adventure John was planning. He enjoyed travelling with Joan, and family and friends to many destinations around the United States and Europe and wherever New York Life conventions took them. He also was a proud Sergeant within the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company.
John’s legacy will forever live on in the many lives he touched. Funeral services from the Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home 331 Main St. Everett Monday March 31st 8:45 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Church 46 Oakes St. Everett at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at the Forest Hill Cemetery Forest Hill Ave. Lynnfield. Visiting hours will be Sunday March 30th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Valet Parking provided.
