Joseph J. (Gus) Belmonte SR.

Joseph J. Belmonte SR of Saugus passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025 at the age of 94. During his younger years he fought bravely in the Korean war for the United States Army. Joe better known as ‘Gus’ took great pride in his lifelong work as a dedicated Master carpenter. He also had many hobbies. Joseph was a lover of the outdoors, especially enjoying hunting and fishing.  

Devoted husband of the late Rose (Palmitesta) Belmonte. Caring son of Giovanna (Pastore) and Alphonso Belmonte of Italy, together they had a large, beautiful family. Joseph is one of eight children. He was preceded in death by all his siblings, Nicholas, Angelo, Rose, Janice, Carmella, Frances, and Ann. He is survived by his two loving sons. Joseph J. Belmonte JR. and his wife Penny, Michael A. Belmonte and his wife Mary. Along with nieces, nephews, and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
