Linda L Bears

April 15, 1956 ~ June 19, 2023 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Obituary

Linda L. Bears, 67, went to eternal rest surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, June 19, 2023.  Linda lived with endometrial cancer for over 8 years, during this time she was an extremely courageous and fearless fighter, she battled hard, and her daughter created “Linda Strong” bracelets in her honor. She is survived by her two children, Sean and Sandra, as well as Sean’s wife Rebecca whom she had also grown close to.  Linda leaves her four beautiful grandchildren Ashley, Blake, Soraya and AJ and a goddaughter Sydney. Linda will be deeply missed by her closest friend of over 50 years Sandra Gale. She is also survived by her three sisters, Dot, Sue and Ada, a half-sister Pat, and two brothers Skip and Jack. Linda was predeceased by her wife Kathy, her brother Russ and her half-sister Barbara. Born in Somerville, MA, Linda was a longtime resident of Everett, MA. She was the daughter of the late Dorothy Bears (Davis) and Warren A. Bears.

Linda had many things to be proud of including her baptism on 2/24/2014 at Somerville Community Baptist Church where she was a beloved member.  Linda’s faith was extremely important to her and she read daily devotionals as well as spent time reading her bible each morning. Linda and her family were also extremely proud of her over 40 years of sobriety. A dedicated graduate and mentor of the Livestrong program, Linda created a beautiful garden at her home each year in memory of the many friends who had gone before her.  A selfless person, she was often found caring for those less fortunate than herself such as delivering food to families, rescuing pets or quietly giving to charity groups. After circumstances caused her to drop out of school at a young age, Linda, who was always extremely independent, wanted more for herself and obtained her GED. She was then able to become extremely successful in her job at Harvard University.

Linda had many friends. She met one of her closest friends of over 30 years, Mary O’ Connor, while working at Harvard. Many of her family members she also considered to be close friends. Linda was very grateful to her family, friends, and her church family for all their support and prayers which helped her get through these past few years.  Linda enjoyed being a DJ and would often do so for her friends and family functions. The memories she made and laughs she shared with her family and friends were always her most precious times. Being with her grandchildren was also one of her favorite activities. As a very proud Nana, she loved having the children over for sleepovers, playing board games, arts and crafts, painting rocks for her garden or playing make believe.

In loving memory of Linda’s life, family and close friends are invited for a church service at Somerville Community Baptist Church, 31 College Ave, Somerville, MA, on Sunday, July 16 at 12pm.

The family would like to invite friends and family to drop by the George Dilboy VFW Post, 351 Summer St, Somerville, MA anytime 7/16/2023 between 1:30-5:30 to eat together, listen to music, and share memories, love and laughter in Linda’s honor.

For the celebration of life, please feel free to remember her in any way you would like such as by dressing comfortably in your favorite T-shirt and jeans, as Linda would prefer you to come as you are! Linda wouldn’t want anyone to be blue, but you can definitely wear blue as that was her favorite color!

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to: Livestrong, 623 W. 38th St, Ste 300, Austin, TX 78705
