Maria Grazia (Iantosca) Vardaro

Maria Grazia (Iantosca) Vardaro entered eternal rest on November 20, 2020 at her home in Malden, MA surrounded by her family. She was 74 years old. 

Born April 20, 1946 to the late Carmela and Angelo Iantosca in Montefalcione, Italy, Maria came to the United States just after marrying the love of her life, Antonio Vardaro. They would have celebrated 57 years of marriage next month.

She had a strong faith, an incredible work ethic, and an unwavering commitment to her family. She lived a simple life and filled her home with unconditional love. When she came to Boston, she and Antonio lived in the North End before moving their three young daughters to Malden where they welcomed their son. 

Maria’s home was where everyone always gathered, and she never turned anyone away. She always provided a warm welcome given she had such a generous heart. Sundays were always spent as a family gathered around the dinner table where you could be sure to always enjoy a delicious meal and plenty of laughter. If little ones visited her at the bakery, she definitely gave them a cookie and if you told her that you enjoyed a certain food, you could be sure to find it on the table at your next visit. Maria was truly one-of-a-kind. There’s no doubt that she is an angel in heaven. 

In addition to being survived by her devoted husband, Maria Grazia leaves her four children and their families: Rachel and Stephen Dewsnap of Saugus, MA; Carmella Vardaro of Malden, MA; Annette and Greg Reed of Saugus, MA; and Anthony and Erika Vardaro of Lynnfield, MA. Always the doting Nana, she was so proud of her grandchildren: Sam, Sophia, Gregory, Stephen, and Julia. She was the beloved sister of Giovannina Iantosca and Ricci Antonio both of Italy and the late Ferdinando Iantosca. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law both in America and Italy.

Funeral from Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, 331 Main Street, Everett on Tuesday, November 24. A wake service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:15 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Malden at 10:00 am. Entombment will be  at Holy Cross Mausoleum in Malden.  Relatives and friends are invited.
