Mario DiPompo, 96 years old, born in Orsogna, Italy, was a long time resident of Revere. He died peacefully on January 2nd. He is predeceased by his wife, Antonia Pace DiPompo. He is survived by many nieces and nephews who reside here in the U.S. and others who live in Italy. Mario was a founding member and treasurer for many years of the Sons of Orsogna Association and a regular card player and social events attendee at the club. He enjoyed singing as a choir member for the Italian Mass at St. Anthony’s Church, Everett, and sang in the Gruppo Folkloristico Orsognese. He was a gifted baritone. He talked about singing often and was proud of his knowledge of songs, lullabies, and ballads indigenous to his place of birth. Mario had an exceptional aptitude for vegetable gardening. He would start in the early spring to grow plants to be distributed to friends and family and for his own harvest to be preserved for winter cooking. He genuinely liked the whole process of gardening and did it until he was 95. For many years and for various construction companies, Mario worked as a laborer helping to erect notable edifices in the Boston area. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
