Our world lost one of the few precious souls to make this world kinder place. Mary Gallagher, formerly Sheehan, age 69 passed away on Friday, November 12 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mary lived in Winthrop throughout her childhood, raised by Walter and Eleanor Sheehan. She was the oldest of four, all very close siblings.
Mary graduated Winthrop High School in the summer of 1970, and she later went on to earn a masters in accounting from Babson University.
Mary married Raymond Gallagher in 1982, now former. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Chrissy and Karen.
Mary worked as an accountant right up until two days before God called her home. Everyone she worked with loved her, as she made a lasting impression on everyone. She was an avid reader and an active member of both the Immaculate Conception Church and Saint Anthony’s of Boston, as a Eucharistic minister. She’ll always be remembered as someone who gave selflessly, who put her children, and grandchildren before her self. No matter the obstacle her faith in God always lead the way for her. She loved and supported her children and everything they did, and still do. With no exception for her grandchildren, who she helped become who they are now. She touched everyone’s lives in a way that will never be forgotten.
Mary is survived by her two children, Christine Gallagher; Karen Belew and son-in-law Richard Belew, five grandchildren; Leah Gallagher, Jude Lundin, Aria Lundin, Harley Belew and Wyat Gallagher. Mary is also survived by sister, Ann Gheringhelli and husband Tom of Lynn, brothers Thomas Sheehan and partner Janice Paradis of Haverhill and Robert Sheehan and partner Valorie Wright of New Hampshire.
