Maryann (Fortado) Lopilato
Of Wakefield, formerly of Gloucester, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021. Maryann was the daughter of Samuel and Irene (Sears) Fortado. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond Lopilato and her brother Matthew Fortado. Maryann is survived by her stepdaughter Doris Devincent and her husband Philip of Nashua, NH, her cousin Steve Fortado and his wife Jane and her nephew Chuck Interbartolo and his wife Dee of Wakefield, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Maryann was born and raised in Gloucester. In 1962, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Marywood College in Scranton, PA. Maryann went on to teach Art in the Winthrop school system for many years. Eventually, she opened an Antique Shop in North Conway, where Maryann met her husband, Raymond. They traveled to Cortina, Italy yearly to ski and hike. During her travelling years she managed a gourmet kitchen supply shop in the North End. Also, operated the “Dream Basket” Gift Shop in Belmont and the proceeds were donated to the Fernald School of Massachusetts. Maryann will be most remembered for her love of life, her witty sense of humor and her creativity. She touched the hearts of those she knew and will be dearly missed.
A Committal Service will be held on Friday, September 10 at 10:15 am in Holy Cross Cemetery/Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America by mail to PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901 or online www.DementiaSociety.org/donate.
