Michael “Sonny” Forgione
Of Everett, age 86, passed away peacefully at his vacation home in Freedom, NH. Beloved husband of Gloria (Moro) of almost 60 years. Loving father of Bernadette Forgione Graffeo of Everett, Judith McGowan of Conway, NH, David Forgione and his wife Carrie of Tewksbury and the late Michael A. Forgione. Michael was the son of the late Caroline and Albert Forgione. He was predeceased by his brother Albert “Junior” Forgione and his sister Dolores “Dee” Bellante. Devoted grandfather to ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Survived by his brother-in-law Frank Bellante, sister-in-law Patricia Forgione and many nieces and nephews.
Michael “Sonny” was an aircraft mechanic in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After serving his country, he received an honorable discharge and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After the service, he married Gloria and raised his four children in Everett. He loved sports and was an avid Yankees fan and loved to play golf.
For over 30 years, Sonny rented a cottage for his family at Salisbury Beach for the summer. Sonny and Gloria loved spending the winter months in Florida. They loved Disney World, SeaWorld and Universal Studios. Over the last 15 years, Sonny enjoyed the summer with his family in the quiet beautiful lakeside community in Freedom, NH. He loved taking his grandchildren to Storyland in NH.
Sonny worked for the Registry of Motor Vehicles in Boston for almost 30 years as a computer programmer and the IRS for many years.
Funeral from the Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, 331 Main Street, Everett on Monday, August 24th. Visiting hours will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 am. A Graveside Service will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery at 11:30 am.
