Ruth Helene Augustine (Leon) of Everett, MA, was welcomed into the arms of the Blessed Mother on Thursday, Oct. 7th, surrounded by her family. She was 90 years old.
She was known as a woman of great faith whose prayers were requested by many in their times of need. Her sharp wit, sense of humor and memory remained with her to the end.
Ruth is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Augustine of Chesapeake, VA, and Cecilia and Michael Cronin of Everett. She will be dearly missed by her three granddaughters, Helen and Ryan Lancaster of West Memphis, AR, Patricia and David Wheeler of Manchester, NH, and her “partner in crime” Michelle Cronin and Ronald Colosi, Jr. of Saugus. She also leaves two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Ella Lancaster, and one older sister, Elnora Leon of Choiseul, St. Lucia.
She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, MacGowan “Mac” Augustine, her parents Lenger and Lucina (Felix) Leon, eleven siblings, her dearest friend Paula Martindale of Atlanta, GA, and her beloved chihuahua, Gracie, who also passed away earlier this year.
A long-time member and eucharistic minister of the Immaculate Conception parish in Everett, MA, friends and family are invited there to attend a funeral mass in her remembrance on Friday, Oct. 15th at 10 a.m. As requested, the service will include her favorite church hymns.
Our family respects the wishes of Ruth and will not be holding a public viewing. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to charities that service patients living with congestive heart failure or hospice organizations that support these families.
