Susan Greene Almechatt, passed away peacefully at her home in Wakefield on October 10, 2024, with her sister, Kathy LeBlanc and sister-in-law, Jacki Clark by her side. Susan also leaves a loving brother, John Greene (and wife, Deirdre), nieces and nephews: Jeff, Jennifer, Felicia, Arianna, John, Josh, Taylor, and Julianna who was also her goddaughter. She is pre-deceased by her beloved Mother, Betty Greene of Everett.
Susan was born October 19, 1954 and grew up in Everett where she graduated from high school, then completed her nurses’ training at The Soldier’s Home. She worked as a nurse for forty years, in a variety of settings, but found her true calling working with adults with disabilities at Shore Educational Collaborative’s Chelsea Program for many years. Susan retired in 2021 and moved to Las Vegas where she worked part-time at the Miller School, this time with children with developmental disabilities and complex medical needs. She loved the kids and adults with whom she worked and was a passionate advocate for their dignity and humanity.
After several years in Las Vegas, Susan’s New England roots and wish to “grow old” with her sister and lifelong best friend, Kathy beckoned her home to Wakefield. Susan was a genuine, loyal, and loving friend to so many people – in the Boston area and Las Vegas. She will be missed.
